Today we are going to talk about the KEY to cooking with cannabis.

Cooking with weed! It’s amazing and delicious, but it’s definitely an art. TV shows like Bong Appetit and Cooking on High are great examples of how cannabis infused food has become an increasing delicious trend. They’re presentation is on point.

But there is one fundamental aspect of cooking with cannabis that everyone needs to understand. Do this, and cooking food that gives you the effect you’re looking for should start to make a little more sense. It’s called decarboxylation.

It sounds kind of complicated, but you need to activate the THCA so that it can become THC and have a psychoactive effect. You’re removing the carboxyl atom which is typically done by heating cannabis. Simply place a cookie sheet of well ground up weed in the oven at 225 for about an hour.

That will activate the THC, which means you can cook pretty much anything you want with the cannabis. Most people, however, like to turn it into an oil or a butter. Eating dried out flower honestly just doesn’t sound that awesome. The key lies in extracting the cannabinoids from the flower.
